Oilers Drop Road Contest at Hillsdale

Hillsdale, Mich.  – The University of Findlay women's basketball team dropped a league contest on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Hillsdale by a score of 88-67. With the loss the Oilers fall to 15-6 on the season with an 11-5 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Chargers move to .500 on the year at 11-11 with a 9-7 record in the league.

It was the second quarter that Hillsdale used to take control of the contest as the home team would outscore Findlay 27-14 in the period to take a 15-point lead into halftime. The Oilers trimmed that lead to nine heading into the fourth, but the Chargers put up 28 points in the final frame to seal the victory.

Hillsdale outshot Findlay .462 to .417 and outrebounded the Oilers 40-to-34. The home team also held a major advantage with 19 assists to just eight for Findlay.

Senior Anna Hintz led the Oilers in scoring with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting including 6-of-7 from the free throw line. She also had four rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Senior Allie Thobe scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds, and had three assists to round out Findlay's double-digit scorers. Senior Jaclyn Heath scored seven points off the bench.

Hillsdale was led by Brittany Gray with 17 points while Allie Dewire scored 16. Makenna Ott had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Findlay is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 14 when they travel to take on Lake Erie.
