Blowout in Vienna, WV | Oilers Cruise to Win at OVU

Vienna, West Va. – The University of Findlay women's basketball team kicked off their Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) slate with a win on Thursday, Dec. 5 in Vienna, WV. The Oilers took on Ohio Valley and dominated to the tune of an 91-43 victory. Findlay is now 8-0 against the Fighting Scots, the last four of which have been by 30 or more points. The win gives the Oilers a 4-4 record on the year and 1-0 start in league play while Ohio Valley falls to 1-3 and 0-1 in the G-MAC.

The Oilers, who saw all 13 players score in tonight's game, opened the game with a 29-4 run through the first 11 and a half minutes of play to take command of the contest. Despite a slow start out of the half that saw the Fighting Scots go on an 8-0 run, Findlay cruised to a 48-point win and their first 90-point performance of the season.

Findlay hit 33-of-77 (.429) from the floor while the Fighting Scots made just 15-of-55 (.273). The Orange and Black made a statement defensively, forcing Ohio Valley into 33 turnovers that included 19 steals for Findlay. Those 33 turnovers turned into 34 points.

Sophomore Sydney Kin led the way for Findlay as she poured in a career-high 22 points on 9-of-16 from the floor including her first career three-point field goal. Kin also grabbed nine rebounds, just missing out on a double-double.

Sophomore Bridget Landin did collect a double-double, scoring 13 points and tying her career-high with 13 rebounds, nine of which came on the offensive glass. Landin was second on the squad with four steals while sophomore Lily Simon led the team with five.

Sophomore Amber Schweiger chipped in 12 points and led the Oilers with five assists and also had four steals.

Junior Madison Stolly scored nine points and had five rebounds while freshman Elizabeth Flynn had a good game, as well, scoring seven points and picking up four rebounds.

Findlay will stay on the road this Saturday, Dec. 7 when they take on Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, WV. That game will tip at 2:00 pm.
