Early Lead Slips as Oilers Fall to Kentucky Wesleyan

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team faced saw their four-game win streak snapped on Saturday, Jan. 18 in Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers dropped a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest to the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers by a score of 69-58 and fall to 10-8 on the year with a 6-2 record in the league. The Panthers improve to 18-1 overall and 9-1 in the G-MAC.

Findlay led through the first quarter, but the Panthers outscored the Orange and Black 22-10 in the second period and never trailed again.

The Oilers did manage to pull within four points in the fourth quarter, trailing 56-52 with six-and-a-half minutes to play, but the Panthers ended the game on a 13-6 run to seal their 18th win of the season.

Findlay shot 22-of-50 from the floor for 44 percent while the Panthers made just 26-of-62 for 41.9 percent. KWC took almost half of their attempts from behind the arc, shooting 30 triples in the game, making just seven.

The Panthers held an edge on the glass, 37-31, and forced the Oilers into 30 turnovers, the most in a game this season for Findlay.

Sophomore Sydney Kin scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-15 from the floor including a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. She also hauled in a game-high 14 rebounds to pick up the double-double.

Coming off the bench, sophomore Bridget Landin scored nine points and had six rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals. Sophomore Amber Schweiger scored seven points and led Findlay with five assists and five steals.

Freshman Elizabeth Flynn scored five points and had three assists.

The Panthers were led by Keelie Lamb who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. She also had four assists and three steals. Cali Nolot, Kaylee Clifford, and Leah Richardson all scored in double-figures for KWC, scoring ten, eleven, and ten points, respectively.

The Oilers will face the top team in the G-MAC a week from today, January 25 when they travel to Walsh. That game will tip off at 1:00 pm.
