Landin's Career-High Leads Oilers to Quarterfinal Win

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's basketball team used a big fourth quarter on Tuesday, March 3 to secure a win in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament, defeating Ohio Dominican University 85-75 in the quarterfinal round. With the win, Findlay, seeded third, improves to 18-11 on the season while Ohio Dominican, seeded sixth, ends their year with a 17-12 record.

The game featured four ties and 12 lead changes and was back-and-forth for much of the first half, a half in which the Oilers lead by five.

The Panthers cut the lead to 57-55 entering the fourth quarter but, as has been the case many times this season, Findlay used a big fourth quarter to secure the win, outscoring ODU 28-20 in the last ten minutes.

In the game the Oilers shot 29-of-63 (46-percent) from the floor while the Panthers made 24-of-61 for 39 percent. Findlay capitalized on their three-point chances, connecting on 6-of-9 from deep while ODU struggled, making just 7-of-27.

Findlay was led offensively by sophomore Bridget Landin who poured in a career-high 25 points including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also had eight rebounds, two steals, and a block to round out her clutch performance.

Sophomore Sydney Kin had another 20+ point performance with 21 points on 8-of-13 from the floor. She led the team with nine rebounds and had two steals.

Sophomore Amber Schweiger scored 12 points, had eight assists, four steals, and four rebounds while senior Lauren Ruth chipped in 12 points and three steals.

Coming off the bench, sophomore Lilly Simon scored eight points on the strength of two three-point shots, both of which came at the end of the first half to increase the Oilers lead going into the break.

The Oilers will return to the court on Friday, March 6 when they will head to Canton to take on second-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan.
