Junior Meredith Wipper came away with a playoff victory over sophomore Kristina Kniesly on the eighth hole to lead the Oilers to a third place finish at their annual William Beall Fall Classic, which wrapped up on Oct. 8 at the Findlay Country Club.

Wipper tied a school record with a 5-under par score of 67 during her final round to force a playoff with Kniesly, who posted a 76 during her final 18 holes. The two teammates then played the eighth hole to determine medalist honors and Wipper won with a par.

Wipper's 5-under 67 marked the third time an Oilers golfer has achieved that mark. Kniesly did it earlier this season at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Invitational and former UF All-American Kasey Petty accomplished the feat at the 2016 NCAA Division II East Regional.

During her final round, Wipper recorded four birdies and an eagle. She also registered 12 pars and one bogey to give her a 4-over par score of 148 at the tournament. Kniesly meanwhile finished regulation in a tie for first place with her 36-hole score of 148. She shot a 72 in the opening round on Sunday before carding a 76 on Monday. Both players finished the tournament with five birdies, the third-best total in the field.

Senior Samantha Hatter ended the tournament with a 154 (75, 79) to tie for 13th while junior Samantha Kellstrom had a 155 (73, 82) to tie for 16th.

Junior Mikaela Hickey shot a 158 (80, 78) to tie for 23rd, freshman Jill Schmitmeyer tied for 27th with a 159 (81, 78), senior Makenzie Torres tied for 40th with a 162 (80, 82) and junior Mackenzie Keenoy tied for 50th after recording a 165 (78, 87).

As a team, the Oilers claimed the bronze with a 36-hole score of 604 (300, 304). They finished with 20 birdies, the second-best total at the tournament, and had 103 pars, the second-highest total at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action at the Dayton Invitational on Oct. 15-16.
