Torres Named POY | Guarnieri Voted COY

Senior Makenzie Torres was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Golf Player of the Year as the league office unveiled their postseason awards on May 13. In addition, Dominic Guarnieri was voted the Coach of the Year.

Torres, who has been named the Player of the Year in each of the past two seasons, also earned first team all-conference accolades and has been voted all-league in each of her four years at Findlay. She recently led the Oilers to their first NCAA Division II East Regional title by taking runner-up honors with a 54-hole score of 221 (+5). She also took runner-up honors at the G-MAC Championship, finishing the event with a three-round score of 229 (+16).

Guarnieri, who received the same honor last year as well, has now been named a Women's Golf Coach of the Year four times during his tenure at Findlay. The first two times he earned the honor came in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) during the 2014-15 and 2016-17 seasons.

Junior Meredith Wipper, senior Samantha Hatter, and sophomore Kristina Kniesly all earned all-conference honors for Findlay as well.

Wipper won the G-MAC Championship with a 54-hole score of 224 (+11) and took third at the regional with a 222 (+6). She has now been named all-conference all three years of her career at Findlay.

Hatter finished fifth at the conference tournament with a 237 (+24) and placed 10th at the regional with a 227 (+11). She has been an all-conference performer for the Oilers all four years of her career.

Kniesly meanwhile took tenth at the G-MAC Championship with a 54-hole score of 242 (+29) and finished eighth at the regional with a 226 (+10). She has been an all-conference pick in each of her first two seasons with the Oilers.
