Miller to Participate on the Big Stage...Again

Findlay, Ohio – 2016 University of Findlay graduate Kasey (Petty) Miller has earned the opportunity to participate close to home as she will be included in the field in the 34^th playing of Marathon LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Classic presented by Dana which will be held in Sylvania, Ohio on Thursday, July 11-Sunday, July 14. This will be the second time in Miller's career that she will participate in an LPGA event. Her first such event came shortly after graduation in 2016 when she won a qualifier in St. Louis, Missouri to gain entry into the Women's US Open which was played in San Martin, California that year. That year she earned GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Golfer of the Year and earned all-American honors, taking runner-up at the NCAA DII National Championship.

At the Marathon Classic, Miller will tee off on Thursday at 2:16 pm off the first tee and on Friday, will tee off from the tenth tee at 9:16 am.

"Playing in the US Open was such an eye-opening experience for me. Coming right out of college, I was very overwhelmed playing in a major championship for my first professional event", Miller stated. "Now, having the experience of playing professionally for a couple of years, I don't feel uncomfortable at all. I've prepared the best I can: working hard on the course, in the gym, and sharpening my mental game. I'm much more confident that I belong out here this time."

Miller, who earned a sponsor's exemption to participate in the event, has been playing professionally since graduating three years ago. Most of her time has been spent on the Eggland's Best Ladies Pro Golf Tour, a National Women's Golf Association (NWGA) mini-tour that plays tournaments year round, mostly in the state of Florida. In 2018, Miller finished third in the Player of the Year standings and this season is currently fourth in the standings and on the money list. Her first professional tournament win came on April 4 of this year when she won the Gates Four Women's Classic with an eight-under score of 208.

"I'm so blessed to be playing in the Marathon Classic this year and I want to thank the people at Marathon for making this possible", Miller continued. "This tournament is so special because it's so close to home. I've followed the tournament for years and now I get the opportunity to play in it, and that is a dream come true. Having my friends and family around to support me this week makes me feel right at home."

Marathon Classic Facts

The tournament field consists of 144 players including three of the top ten players in the world
Highland Meadows Golf Club will play 6,561 yards and is a Par 71 (34-37)
Players will compete for a portion of the $1.75 million purse
The tournament winner will pocket $262,500 while all players inside the top 40 will earn at least $9,000
