Oilers Finish Runner Up in First Tournament

Carmel, Indiana-The University of Findlay women's golf team finished as the runner-up at the Indianapolis Fall Inviational after posting a 54-hole score of 889 (292, 291, 297) at the event.

Meredith Wipper led the Oilers with a three round total of 218 (71,70,77) good for a fourth place finish for the tournament and a spot on the all-tournament team. Wipper also finished the tournament with nine birdies. Finishing just one shot back of her teammate, Kristina Kniesly would finish her last 36 holes of the tournament at even par for a 54-hole score of 219 (75,72,72). Kniesly would finish second-best in par-3 scoring for the tournament.

Jill Schmitmeyer finished in a tie for 16th with a three-round total of 224 (75,72,76) while Danbi Kim tied for 22nd with a 228 (71, 77, 80).

Mackenzie Keenoy also competed for Findlay and placed 78th with a 255 (84, 87, 84).

As a team, the Oilers led the field in par-3 scoring with an average of 3.05 (+3) and finished with the second-most birdies with 32.

The women's team will have less than a week until they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky for the G-MAC Fall Invitational. The event will be played at the Pearl Club on Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17. The last time the women's team played at the Pearl Club was a success as they won the East Regional Championship.
