OIlers Dominate Coker

Hartsville, SC – The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team was victorious against the Coker College Cobras on Friday, March 9 in a 21-8 final. The victory moves the Oilers' record to 3-0 on the season.

The Oilers jumped out to an early lead, scoring seven unanswered goals in the first ten minutes of the match.

For the final 20 minutes of the first half the Oilers and the Cobras traded goals back and forth, leaving the score at 13-6 in favor of the Oilers heading into halftime.

Coker showed a comeback effort early in the second half, scoring in the third minute on the Oilers defense.

That comeback effort was short-lived, as Findlay's Ciara Burud immediately responded with a goal of her own on a free position shot during the next possession.

Findlay would score seven more goals in the second half while Coker added one, bringing the score to the eventual 21-8 final.

Leading the Findlay offense was Burud, with six goals and one assist.

Also heavily contributing was senior Olivia Sherman who recorded four goals and three assists during the contest.

Junior Brie Caruso added three goals for Findlay, while freshman Hanna Morgan and junior Hannah Peebles each recorded two goals. Peebles also had two assists.

Sophomore Brittany Stephens had four ground balls during the game.

The Oilers will be back on the field this Sunday, March 11 when they travel to Charleston, WV to take on the University of Charleston Golden Eagles. The game is set to begin at 12:00 PM
