Oilers Fall in OT | Sherman Reaches 100 Career Goals

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season on March 17 at the Armstrong Sports Complex as Lake Erie College defeated the Oilers by a score of 11-10 in overtime. The loss gives the Oilers a 4-1 record on the year with a 0-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers trailed 9-7 midway through the second half before scoring three straight goals to take a 10-9 lead with just under six minutes to play. Olivia Sherman got the rally going with her 100th career goal and was followed by Jacelyn Litman, who tied the game with 12:18 showing on the clock. Allison Kelly then gave Findlay a one goal advantage with 5:49 left in regulation.

Lake Erie would tie the game at 10-10 with 3:22 to play and Findlay had an opportunity at the end of the second half to score, but were unable to get a shot off.

Just over a minute into the overtime session, Lake Erie's Cecilia Spin ended the game with the golden goal.

Kelly, Sherman and Maddi Brown each had two goals apiece for Findlay in the contest. Sherman added two assists, four draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls.

Natalie Fury won six draw controls and also caused two turnovers while Emma Spellman, Rachel Heath, Brittany Stephens and Ciara Burud each had four ground balls.

Heath took the loss and made six saves in the net.

The Oilers will be back at home on March 20 to host Tiffin at 3:00 p.m.
