Oilers Fall in Second Half to Dragons

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team played conference rival Tiffin on Saturday, April 20. Both teams were sitting in first place with 4-0 records in G-MAC conference play. The Dragons ultimately took the win, defeating the Oilers 13-12. The Oilers are now 4-1 in conference play and 6-9 on the season.

Findlay started off strong in the first half, scoring the first goal of the game. The Oilers continued to score, taking a 6-2 lead with 13 minutes remaining in the first half. By the end of the first half the Oilers were up by three goals with a score of 8-5.

The second half proved to be tough for the Oilers, as the Dragons came out and scored six unanswered goals to take the lead of 11-8. Findlay continued to fight and put some more goals on the board to cut the Dragons lead to one with just four minutes remaining in the game. Unfortunately, the Dragons maintained possession and were able to kill the clock to end the game up by one goal.

Freshman Danielle Dilorenzo had a great game offensively, scoring four goals off of four shots. Senior Hannah Peebles also played well, scoring two goals and dishing out six assists. Her six assists tied the school record for most in a game.

Senior Jacelyn Litman and junior Ciara Burud each had two goals and one assist apiece while senior Brie Caruso and freshman Kendra Lindell each added a goal as well.  Caruso also grabbed three draw controls.

Sophomore Jordan Reineke grabbed three draw controls for the Oilers and also had one caused turnover. Senior Lexi Miller had two draw controls and two caused turnovers while junior Brittany Stephens picked up five groundballs and one caused turnover.

Senior Claire Ferrell took the loss in net for the Oilers but made 8 saves on 21 shots and had three caused turnovers and two groundballs.

The Oilers will be playing at home on Friday, April 14 against conference competitor Lake Erie at 4:00 PM.
