Wrestling Sending 3 to NCAA DII National Championship

The University of Findlay wrestling program wrapped up the 2020 NCAA DII Super Regional on Feb. 29 in Indianapolis, Ind. and will send three individuals to the NCAA DII National Championship in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Freshman Branson Proudlock led the way as he took runner-up honors in the 141-pound weight class to punch his ticket to South Dakota. Proudlock went 2-1 at the event and fell 7-2 to Notre Dame's Kelan McKenna in the finals. He scored an 11-4 victory over Lake Erie's Andrew Lieb and recorded a 15-2 win over Tiffin's Dylan Mansor to reach the championship bout.

Junior Zachary Collins finished third in the 125-pound weight class with a 2-1 record to advance to the national championship as well. He lost his first match 2-1 against Ashland's Christian Wellman before winning 5-3 over Raymond Adams from Tiffin. He then scored a 5-3 victory against Wellman in the third place match to punch his ticket to the national championship.

Senior Devin Rogers advanced to nationals by going 3-1 in the 149-pound weight class. He scored a 3-1 win over Notre Dame's Sandro Ramirez before falling 6-1 to Tiffin's Christopher Donaldson. Rogers then defeated Lake Erie's Brandon Tenney 13-4 before beating Indianapolis' Kyle Barkovich 9-7 in the third place match.

Sophomore Derek Sharp nearly reached the championship with a 3-2 record in the 133-pound weight class. He fell 11-2 to Lake Erie's Blake Glogouski in the third place match.

The 2020 NCAA DII National Championship will take place on March 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
