Roughnecks Beaten by Glenville State at Battle on the Gridiron
Glenville, WV – The University of Findlay wrestling team took part in the Battle on the Gridiron Two hosted by Glenville State on Thursday, Nov. 10. The Roughnecks' dual pitted them against the host Pioneers who came away with a 26-17 victory over visiting Findlay. Thursday was Findlay's first dual of the new 2022-23 season.
The Roughnecks dropped the first two bouts of the afternoon, losing at both 125 and 133 pounds.
Freshman Cade Cass, wrestling at 141 pounds, picked up the first win for Findlay, a victory by tech fall (15-0). Cass opened up the scoring with a takedown in the first period and added three near falls before that period had ended. The second period opened with an escape by Cass, giving him the tech fall victory and five points for the Roughnecks.
At 149 pounds, junior Mason Kleinberg made quick work of his opponent, defeating Cam Barr by securing a pin just 54 seconds into the match. A forfeit at 157 by Glenville State gave Findlay a 17-9 advantage through five bouts.
The Pioneers went on to win the final five matchups of the day to secure a 26-17 victory.
