Houghton, Michigan-The University of Findlay women's soccer team lost in overtime to the Michigan Tech University Huskies on Friday, September 30. This loss gives the Oilers a 3-6-0 overall record and a 1-2-0 record in the conference.
In the first half, Michigan Tech capitalized on a goal in the thirtieth minute from a breakaway with a one on one with the goalkeeper, giving the Huskies a 1-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, sophomore Marissa Swindell tied the game up in the 52nd minute off a breakaway and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper with an assist from sophomore Megan Kupetz, leading the Oilers and the Huskies into the first overtime with a score of 1-1.
At the end of the second half, Findlay outshot the Huskies 10-9. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Baer attained three saves to the Huskies' five saves.
In the first minute of overtime, the Huskies ended the game off of a rebound in the box, winning the game 2-1.
Findlay will take the field again on Sunday, October 2 against Northern Michigan University at 1:00pm in the Upper Peninsula.
