Findlay Remains Unbeaten | Earns Comeback Win at Malone
Canton, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's soccer team, currently ranked fifth in the Midwest region, came from behind to defeat Malone on Thursday, Sep. 27 in Canton, scoring a pair of goals in the final ten minutes of action to earn the 2-1 victory. With the win the Oilers improve to 7-0-2 overall and 6-0-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. The seven wins are the most in a season since 2013 when the Oilers won eight games.
Findlay, which remains in first place in the conference standings, battled for 42 minutes with the Pioneers before the home team would strike with the first score of the game to take a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Oilers fired off seven shots in the first 35 minutes of the second half. Freshman Brenna Shipley took the eighth shot of the half and beat the Pioneers' goalie to put Findlay on the board and tie the game with just nine minutes to play.
Just three and a half minutes later, sophomore Karleigh Clere, who had the assist on Shipley's goal, scored a goal of her own to give the Oilers the lead with just over five minutes left in the game.
Findlay, which had three yellow cards in the game, outshot Malone 17-5 and clamped down defensively, especially late, allowing just two shots in the second half of play.
Junior Anna Money earned her seventh win in the net this season, playing all 90 minutes and allowing just one goal. She had two saves in the match.
Karleigh Clere two took shots in the contest, scored one goal, and had an assist in the win while freshman Olivia Frank fired five shots, three of which were on goal.

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Sep. 29 when they host the Walsh Cavaliers at DeHaven Field at 1:00 pm. Following that game will be the men's and women's soccer Wall of Fame ceremony.
