Oilers Win on Senior Day

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's soccer team claimed a win on Senior Day on Saturday, October 13 against the Tiffin Dragons with a final score of 3-2. The Oilers improve to 9-2-2 on the season with a conference record of 8-2-2. The Dragons fall to a season record of 2-13-1 and 2-9-1 in conference play.

The first half was a back and forth battle to score. The Oilers took nine shots compared to Tiffin's two in, but both teams remained scoreless going into halftime.

The second half began with the Oilers getting on the board first with a goal off the crossbar, shot by sophomore Paige Casto. The Dragons didn't let the Oilers hold the lead for long, scoring just minutes after to tie the game at 1-1.

Shots continued to fly until a Tiffin foul gave the Oilers a penalty kick. Senior Megan Kupetz was able to put the ball past the Tiffin goalie to put Findlay ahead by one.

In the 82nd minute, Megan Kupetz took a shot that got the tips of the goalies gloves, but made it into the net to increase Findlay's lead. Tiffin was determined to make a comeback and scored another goal in the 86th minute to cut the lead by one, but that wasn't enough to stop the Oilers from finishing the game with a win.

Junior Anna Money claimed the win in net with four saves on the day.

The Oilers will be playing again on Thursday, October 18 against Ohio Valley at 1:00 PM.
