Lightning Ends Contest Early | Oilers Victorious Over Ashland

Findlay, Ohio ­– The University of Findlay women's soccer team took on Ashland University in a non-conference, in-region game on Friday, September 13 at DeHaven Field. Coming into the contest, both teams were undefeated.  The Oilers were victorious in the matchup of undefeated teams by a 1-0 final and improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Oilers put the first goal on the scoreboard in the 11:51 mark minute of the game when Olivia Frank took a shot from the right side of the net. The ball flew past the diving goalie to the back left corner of the net to give Findlay a 1-0 lead. It was Frank's second goal of the season.

At approximately the 65th minute, inclement weather rolled through Findlay. After a weather delay due to lighting, play began once more. However, with less than three minutes on the clock, lightning struck once more, ending the contest after just more than 87 minutes of action.

Jayla Campbell fired off three shots in the victory, two of which were on goal, while Addie Graham, Karleigh Clere, Sierra Peacock, and Katie Jarvis each got one shot off, apiece.

The Oilers' next game will be at home on Saturday, September 21 against Tiffin University at 1:00 p.m.
