#24 Oilers Beat Ashland | Scherger Sets Record

The University of Findlay volleyball team, ranked 24th in the nation, battled back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat previously unbeaten Ashland University by a score of 3-2 (24-26, 21-25, 25-16, 25-22, 15-7) on Sep. 1 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory gives the Oilers a 6-1 record on the year.

The Oilers picked up momentum in the third set and never looked back as they were led by standout performances from their senior class.

Senior Kara Scherger posted 33 digs in the win, the third-highest total in school history, and moved into first place all time at Findlay with 1,487 career digs. Scherger surpassed the school record of 1,476, which was set by Jessica Luttfring from 1997-2000.

Senior Amanda Winner recorded a double-double with 21 kills and 11 digs while senior Hailee Olson registered 58 assists and dive kills.

Juniors Shelby Kin and Izzy Murphy also reached double digits in the kill category with 13 apiece while junior Molly Hammersmith and sophomore Madison Moore recorded seven kills each.

Junior Ally Duncan had 15 digs while sophomore Olivia Morrison posted ten to aid the Oilers defensive effort.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Sep. 7 when they travel to Painesville, Ohio to battle Lake Erie College at 7pm.
