Oilers' Volleyball Wraps Up Nebraska Trip

Kearney, Neb. - The University of Findlay women's volleyball team had another day of action in the Cornhusker State with two games on Saturday, Sep. 7. The Oilers went 0-2 on the day, losing to Adams State in three sets, (11-25, 20-25, 23-25), and dropping to Oklahoma Baptist in four sets, (15-25, 22-25, 25-22, 18-25). The Oilers are now 0-4 in the season.

Hitter Rylie Pattison was the lone bright spot for the Oilers in the kills category against Adams State as she recorded 13 in the match, which was a team-high. 

Junior setter Emily Annesser recorded 27 assists in the match to go along with 5 digs and the only 2 solo blocks recorded for the Oilers. Alana Sundermann led the Oilers with 8 digs, while Shelby Kin added 6 of her own and Olivia Morrison added 5 of her own. Senior Jenna Delarber contributed to the action as well as she recorded 3 kills and 3 block assists. 

In set one, the Oilers had a chance to take a 1-0 lead as the score was tied 21-21. However, Adams State rallied off four straight points to take set one 25-21. In sets two and three, Adams State would control the bulk of the two games en route to a 3-0 sweep of the Oilers.

Shelby Kin led the Oilers in kills with 12 against Oklahoma Baptist, while also leading the team in digs with 17. Pattison contributed 9 of her own, while Natalie Maras had 6 in the match along with 2 solo blocks. 

Annesser had 30 assists in the match for the orange and black while getting 11 digs. Sundermann had 16 digs to help the Oilers on the defensive end. Morrison added 8 digs of her own in the match.

The Oilers next contest will take place in Croy Gymnasium as they will host Clarion into town in a matchup that is set to take place on Thursday, Sep. 12 at 6:00pm.
