Findlay Continues Win Streak | Beats Lake Erie 3-0

Findlay, Ohio– The University of Findlay women's volleyball team continued Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Saturday, Sep. 17 against Lake Erie College at Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers took down the Storm in a clean sweep, winning the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-11). Findlay advances to a 6-7 record overall and a 3-0 G-MAC record while Lake Erie falls 2-9 overall and 0-4 in G-MAC play. The Oilers recorded their best team hitting percentage of the year at .453 and have now recorded four straight wins.  

The Oilers came out on top hitting .650 in the opening set while Lake Erie had a negative percentage at -.056. Findlay started strong grabbing the first five points. They held the lead the entire set. Their biggest lead was 14 which they held at the end of the set with the score at 24-10. Senior Natalie Maras then put the set away with a kill. 

The second set was back-and-forth. The Oilers finally went on a four-point run late in the set to take the lead by three. An ace by sophomore Ava Doster put the set away in favor of Findlay. The Oilers hit.227 but it was enough to overcome the Storm who hit just -.111. 

The Oilers opened the third set outscoring the Storm 6-1. Findlay never looked back as they outscore Lake Erie 25-11 to take the match. The Oilers hit .500 while Storm hit just .000.  

Journey Blevins led the team with 12 kills hitting a stellar percentage of .500 and Alana Pohlman followed closely behind with 9 hitting an impressive .727. Freshman Emma White recorded 28 assists to help the offense.Freshman Olivia Pearce had a team high of 2 aces. 

On the defensive side senior Emma Meyer recorded a team-high five blocks on the night.  

Findlay returns to Croy Gymnasium for another Great Midwest matchup on Sep. 20 against Walsh University.
