Oilers Pick Up Five All-G-MAC Honors | Blevins Named Player of the Year

Findlay, Ohio - On Thursday, Nov. 10, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced the 2022 Volleyball All-Conference seleections for this season. Findlay, which finished second in the North Division of the conference, earned five all-conference selections including the 2022 G-MAC Player of the Year, sophomore Journey Blevins. Blevins is joined on the all-conference first team by freshman Alana Pohlman and freshman Emma White while senior Emma Meyer and senior Norah Painter earned spots on the second team.

After bursting onto the scene last season, a year in which she earned first team all-conference, American Volleyball Coaches' Association (AVCA) Midwest Region Freshman of the Year, and honorable mention all-American, Findlay standout Journey Blevins has been tabbed as the 2022 G-MAC Player of the Year in just her second season with the Oilers

Blevins stats speak for themselves. This season she led the G-MAC in points, scoring 516.5 on the season, and in points per set at 4.92, almost a half-point per set higher than the next closest player. She finished the regular-season with 484 kills, the most in the conference and third-most in Division II. Her total kills currently rank 10th all-time at Findlay for a single-season. This year, Blevins had double-digit kills in all but one game and collected 19 or more kills in 12 of her 29 matches. Her 4.61 kills per set led the conference and rank fifth in the country. The Richwood, Ohio native also added 216 digs and 47 blocks on the year.

This season, Blevins earned G-MAC North Division Offensive Player of the Week five times, all of which happened consecutively from Sep. 12-Oct. 10. She was also named to the 2022 Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament Team in October.

Blevins is the first conference Player of the Year in program history and just the third player in program history to earn multiple conference 'of the Year' honors in her career, joining Hannah Tong and Nickyla Garverick.

First Team All-G-MAC

Earning a spot on first team all-conference were a pair of freshman who made names for themsevles over the course of their first seasons. Emma White and Alana Pohlman were key factors to the Oilers success this season as, both making major contributions in their debut campaigns.

Emma White, the Oilers' setter, has been one of the top setters in the nation this year, ranking second in the country in total assists with 1,242, nearly 11 per set. That helped Findlay to a conference-leading 1,501 kills on the year. She also tallied 44 aces this season which ranked fifth in the conference and eighth in the Midwest region.

After a redshirt season last year, freshman Alana Pohlman came into 2022 ready to go, proving to be among the best middle blockers in the conference and region. This season, Pohlman tallied 287 kills while hitting a gaudy .332. She also picked up 79 blocks.

Second Team All-G-MAC

Senior Emma Meyer picks up her second consecutive second-team all-conference honor this season. The Anna, Ohio native tallied 160 kills while hitting .301, her second season with a hitting percentage of over .300. Meyer also led the team with 102 blocks which rank fifth in the conference. 

In her first and only season with Findlay, senior Norah Painter was one of the Oilers' top offensive weapons as she put away 298 kills in 788 attacks. She also added 92 digs and had 29 blocks on the season.
