Oilers Compete in Calvin Knights Invite

Results

The University of Findlay men and women's cross country teams competed at the Calvin Knights Invite in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Saturday, September 8. The men finished 7th as a team with a score of 191 while the women finished 15th with a team score of 467.

Men's Results

Senior Jonathan Allen paced the Oilers by placing 11th overall with a time of 25:36.3. Next in for the Oilers was Senior Ty Gleason coming in 45th place with a time of 26:26.9, while teammate Michael Taylor, also a senior, was right on his heels coming in at 49th with a time of 26:29.8.

Other runners for Findlay were senior Austin Guthrie who finished 61st (26:38.3), sophomore Jack Adams finished 63nd (26:40.4), freshman Drew Toon finished 160th (28:12.8), sophomore Ryan Kohout finished 231st (29:39.8), and junior Dylan Jacobs finished 275th (31:27.7).

Women's Results

Freshman Gabrielle Lawrence finished the race in 12th place with a time of 18:43.1. Her time was good enough to tie the 12th best time in school history, which was set by Katherine McHenry on October 4, 2008.

Sophomore Matilda Jeruto finished in 134th with a time of 20:36 while senior Torrie Purdy was close behind her in 158th place with a time of 20:55.5. Following directly behind Purdy was teammate and also a senior, Madilyn Greiner, who finished 160th (20:56.2). Freshman Vannessa Goewart finished in 200th place with a time of 21:39.

The Oilers will be racing again on Saturday, September 15 at Tiffleberg in Tiffin, Ohio.
