Cross Country Opens Up Season at Calvin Invitational

Grand Rapids, Mich. – The University of Findlay men's and women's cross country teams went north to Grand Rapids, Michigan where they took part in the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 7. The women's team finished 12th out of 24 teams while the men took 23rd out of a field of 24.

In the women's 6k race, returning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Freshman of the Year Gabrielle Lawrence was the top finisher for the Oilers. She raced to the finish line in a time of 22:09, tying the fifth-fastest time in school history. That time was good for a seventh place finish in the race.

Findlay's next finisher came in the form of freshman Meghan Donoher who crossed the line in 48th place with a time of 23:21. Junior Matilda Jeruto (24:01) took 82nd, freshman Morgan Gaskins (24:36) finished 113th, sophomore London Moening (26:17) took 161st, and freshman Hayley Robinett (26:36) finished in 166th. Junior Jenna Shipman rounded out the Oilers lineup with a finish in 178th and a time of 27:10.

In the 8k race on the men's side, junior Jack Adams was the first one across the line for the Orange and Black, crossing in 58th with a time of 26:34. Other finishers included freshman Tristin Freistuhler (28:11 | 139th), freshman Ethan Adams (28:19 | 150th), sophomore Dylan Hunter (28:53 | 175), freshman Noah Louria (30:12 | 204), sophomore Daniel Agbola (36:18 | 217), and Gavin Stepansky (36:29 | 218).

Both teams will be back in action at the Ray Bullock Invitational in Upland, Indiana on Friday, Sep. 20.
