Oilers Lose to Wayne State in Mid Week Contest

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay baseball team competed against the Wayne State University Warriors at home at The Cube on Tuesday Mar 22nd in a non-conference matchup. Findlay would come into the game with a 9-14 record. 

The Warriors opened the game up with three runs in the top of the 1st inning with some well-timed base hits.  

The Oilers would respond with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. The first would come off an RBI double by freshmen Austin Andelman that would score junior Aidan Lao (HBP). Later in the inning Adelman would score on an RBI single from sophomore Andre Micale to bring the score back to 3-2. 

Wayne State would bring their 4th run to the plate with an RBI single in the 3rd inning to give them a two-run lead once again.  

Micale would get his second RBI of the game in the 4th inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence to bring the score back to within one run. 

The Warriors would respond with two runs in the top of the 5th inning off a few hits and an error to make the score 6-3. They would also put up one more late run in the 9th to make the score 7-3 where it would stay.  

Junior Spencer Giesige started the game on the mound for Findlay and would throw 1 inning allowing two earned runs and striking out two batters. Sophomore Logan Bragg would come into the game in relief and throw 4 innings allowing 3 earned runs and striking out 3 batters. Senior Trey Bame would come in next throwing one inning allowing only one hit. Junior Grant Meyer would pitch next for Findlay completing 2.2 innings allowing one earned run and striking out 4 batters.  

The Oilers are now 9-15 on the year. They will be back in action on Saturday Mar 26th as they travel to Painesville to take on the Lake Erie Storm in a 4 game series.
