Oilers Open Season Against Quincy | Truman St.

The Oilers will open up their regular season over the weekend in Quincy, Ill. at the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) – Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Crossover. The Oilers will play Quincy University on Nov. 12 at 7pm before facing Truman State University on Nov. 13 at 4pm.

Series Information (Quincy)

The Oilers hold a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series against Quincy dating back to the 2003-04 campaign when the Hawks came away with a 63-57 victory.

The two programs last met in 2019 when Findlay came away with an 88-75 victory at home.

The Oilers shot 55.7 percent (34-of-61) from the floor and made 9-of-19 (47.4%) tries from behind the three point line. They also held a 38-22 advantage on the boards and came away with ten steals in the victory.

Nathan Bruns led the Oilers with 17 points, ten rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block, while Tommy Schmock had 16 points, six assists, five steals, and three rebounds.

Ethan Linder came off the bench to provide 12 points and three rebounds while Anthony Masterlasco reached double figures with ten points to go along with five boards.

The Hawks were led by Tanner Stuckman's 18 points.

Series Information (Truman State)

The Oilers hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series against Truman State dating back to the 2003-04 season when Findlay came away with a 71-52 win.

The two programs last met during the 2019 season when the Bulldogs came away with 67-59 win over Findlay in Niekamp Arena.

Both teams shot 40.3 percent (25-of-62) from the floor and struggled from the three point line. Findlay made only 3-of-20 (15%) attempts from three point range while the Bulldogs converted only 2-of-20 (10%) attempts. The Bulldogs went 15-of-21 (71.4%) from the however while the Oilers finished 6-of-11 (54.5%).

Anthony Masterlasco led the Oilers with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting while Nathan Bruns had eight points, eight rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Aaron Overhiser finished the game with eight points and six rebounds while Tommy Schmock had eight points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Andrew Emrick came off the bench to provide six points and seven rebounds as well.

The Bulldogs were led by Brodric Thomas' 31 points and eight rebounds.

Findlay

The Oilers finished last season with an 18-5 record and averaged 80.0 points per contest. Junior Nathan Bruns returns to lead the team after earning first team all-conference honors. Bruns averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor. He also connected on 40.0 percent of his three point attempts, making one per game.

Senior Anthony Masterlasco returns after averaging 11.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He was named second team all-conference last year and made 57.5 percent of his field goal attempts.

Senior Tre'Maine Gray and sophomore Andrew Owens are also returning starters for the Oilers. Gray averaged 8.7 points per contest while Owens scored 7.3 per game. Seniors Ethan Linder and Brady Wildermuth are also back after contributing 6.7 and 5.6 points per game, respectively.

The Hawks went 6-15 last season and will be led by Charles Callier who returns after averaging 13.2 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Jamaurie Coakley is also back after contributing 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest.

The Trojans finished last season with a 20-3 record and reached the Elite 8 where their season ended with a 70-69 loss to Flagler. Cade McKnight is back to lead the team after averaging 18.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Dylan Peeters returns after contributing 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds per contest.
