Oilers to Host Tiffin | Travel to Ashland

The Oilers will be back at home on Jan. 13 to host Tiffin University at 7:30 p.m. in Niekamp Arena before hitting the road to take on Ashland University at 3:00 p.m. on Jan. 15.

Series Information (Tiffin)

The Oilers hold a commanding 52-8 advantage in the all-time series against the Dragons dating back to the 1926-27 campaign when Tiffin won 22-21.

The Oilers earned a pair of wins over the Dragons last year, winning 89-74 at home and 85-57 on the road.

In the home win, the Oilers shot 50.7 percent (36-of-71) from the floor and held a 52-30 advantage on the boards in the win. They also limited the Dragons to a 41.2 percent (28-of-68) shooting clip.

Nathan Bruns paced the Oilers with 22 points and a career-high 12 rebounds while Brady Wildermuth posted a career-high 14 points and eight rebounds in only 13 minutes of action.

Anthony Masterlasco also played well and finished with 14 points while Ethan Linder came off the bench to provide 13 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

In the road win, the Oilers shot an incredible 68 percent (34-of-50) from the floor and canned 12-of-20 (60%) three point attempts in the win. They also held a 33-18 advantage on the boards and had 11 players score in the game.

Nathan Bruns led the way with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting while Tre'Maine Gray had 12 points.

Series Information (Ashland)

The Oilers hold a 64-31 advantage in the all-time series against Ashland dating back to the 1910-11 campaign when Findlay won 35-10.

The two programs last met in the semifinals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament during the 2016-17 season. The Eagles came away with a convincing 100-69 win in that game.

The Eagles ended the game by hitting 66.7 percent (36-of-54) of their field goal attempts. They also knocked down 21-of-29 (72.4%) shot attempts from behind the three point line, which established a new GLIAC Tournament record.

The Oilers meanwhile connected on 40 percent (26-of-65) of their shot attempts and were only 4-of-18 (22.2%) from long range. They were also out-rebounded by a 37-23 margin and did not hold a lead in the game.

Elijah Kahlig led the way with 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He made all seven of his free throw attempts and canned 2-of-5 from three point range.

Taren Sullivan added 17 points, six assists and four rebounds while Tyler Stern-Tucker had nine points, three assists and three steals.

Adrian Cook led Ashland with 22 points while Nick Bapst had 20.

Findlay

The Oilers are 8-5 on the year with a 2-3 record in league play. Nathan Bruns leads the team with averages of 14.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game while Anthony Masterlasco is averaging 12.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per contest.

Junior guard Joey Edmonds is contributing 12.6 points per outing and senior guard Tre'Maine Gray is producing 11.8 points per game.

The Dragons are 5-7 on the year with a 1-4 record in league play. Tanner Johnson leads five Tiffin players averaging in double figures at 12.3 points per game. Luke Johnson (11.9), Morgan Taylor (11.8), Trent Williams (10.8), and Tylin Lockett-Fuller (10.1) are also scoring in double figures.

Aaron Thompson leads the squad with averages of 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while Derek Koch is contributing 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.
