Oilers to Face Walsh in G-MAC Semifinals

The Oilers will travel to Canton, Ohio on March 4 to face Walsh University in the semifinal round of the 2022 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Series Information

The Oilers hold a 26-13 lead in the all-time series against Walsh dating back to the 1964-65 campaign when Findlay came away with a 77-71 victory.

The Cavaliers took two games from the Oilers this season, winning 82-73 at home and 92-87 in double overtime at Findlay.

In the road loss, the Oilers held a 40-38 lead at the break, but the Cavaliers went on a 16-0 run early in the second half that put the Oilers away as Daryl Straughter led the way with 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting.

Anthony Masterlasco led the Oilers with 18 points while Tre'Maine Gray had 17. Nathan Bruns also reached double figures with 13 points while Deven Stover had eight.

In the home loss, the Oilers held a 39-29 advantage at the break, but struggled in the second half as Walsh came back to take a 65-63 lead with 18 seconds to play. Nathan Bruns then forced the extra session by hitting a jumper with seven seconds remaining in regulation. The Cavaliers then jumped out to a 76-71 lead in overtime before the Oilers scored five straight points to tie the game and force another period, but Walsh dominated the second overtime to get out of Croy with a victory.

Bruns had a big game for Findlay as he finished with 24 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. He also added four assists while hitting 9-of-14 attempts from the floor.

Anthony Masterlasco also reached the 20-point plateau, finishing the game with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting while Tre'Maine Gray had 16 points and five boards.

The Oilers are 19-9 on the season and have been led by Nathan Bruns, who is averaging 14.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Tre'Maine Gray (12.8), Anthony Masterlasco (11.9), and Joey Edmonds (10.6) are also averaging in double figures.

The Cavaliers are 21-6 on the year and winners of five straight games. Darryl Straughter leads the team with an average of 15.4 points per game while Garrison Keeslar is contributing 14.3 points per outing.

Caleb Carter and Tim Smith are also averaging in double figures at 11.7 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.
