Oilers Open Season | Findlay in Second at Arendsen Invitational

Allendale, Michigan- The University of Findlay men's golf team opened their season today, Sunday, Sep. 5, at the Arendsen Invitational at The Meadows hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Oilers shot a 36- hole score of 577 (284, 293) and are in second place overall. Findlay is 9 shots off the leader, Grand Valley State, which shot even par through 36 holes. 

The Oilers were led by senior Tanner Grzegorczyk who shot three- under par (70,69). He is currently in second place individually and one behind the leader. Grzegorczyk leads the tournament in birdies made, making ten within the two rounds. He also leads in par four scoring, averaging 3.91 (-2).  

Alongside Grzegorczyk, sophomore Justin Atkison opened with a 70 (-1) in his first round and closed the day with a 71 (E) putting him in a tie for 4th. Senior Parker Haynes sits tied for 14th at four- over par (70,76). Sophomore Donnie Professori is in a tie for 30th at nine- over par (74,77). Rounding out the lineup is freshman Jonathan Green who is in a tie for 44th at twelve-over par (76,78). 

The Findlay team led the tournament in par five scoring, playing the three par fives at twelve-under par. They also lead the field in total birdies with an impressive 29 on the day.  

Competing as individuals are sophomore Caleb Westfall at thirteen-over par (73,82) and Brock Kehres at seventeen-over par (84,75). 

The Oilers will be back for the final round tomorrow, Sep. 6 at 9am.
