Findlay Falls in Music City

Nashville, Tenn.- The University of Findlay women's basketball team traveled south for a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchups. The Oilers took on Trevecca Nazarene today, Feb. 9. A strong third quarter by the Trojans, gave the home team the 87-64 win. With the loss, the Oilers fall to 6-18 on the season and 3-13 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Trojans improve to 17-7 overall and 13-4 in the G-MAC.

Trevecca opened the game with a 15-4 run to take the early lead in the contest but the Oilers went on a rally of their own to bring the game back within five at the completion of the first quarter. The second and third quarters wreaked havoc for the Oilers as the Trojans outscored the visitors by 21 points in those 20 minutes. 

The Trojans would continue to expand their lead, one which they grew to 28 at the completion of the third quarter. The Oilers were never able to overcome Trevecca's momentum in the final quarter of play despite outscoring the Panthers 14-11. 

Findlay hit 26-of-57 (.456) from the floor including 4-of-17 (.235) from deep while Trevecca made 34-of-71 (.479) and 7-of-21 (.333) from beyond the arc. Most notably, the Oilers had 16 turnovers that the Trojans were able to turn into 31 points. 

The Oilers were led by senior Lauren Hapgood who recorded 16 points on 6-of-10 from the floor, including four from deep. She was assisted by sophomore Mckenna Stephens who chipped in eight points. 

Senior Amber Schweiger led the team in both assists and rebounds, recording five and three respectively. 

The Oilers will begin the journey home, stopping to play Kentucky Wesleyan on Feb. 11 where they will take on the Panthers at 1pm.
