Oilers Continue to Lead NCAA DII East Regional

Results

The University of Findlay women's golf team continues to hold the lead at the 2022 NCAA Division II East Regional, which wrapped up second round action on May 3 at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo. The Oilers shot a 290 during the second round and have a 36-hole total of 582 (292, 290) to put them up 20 strokes over second place University of Indianapolis. Their 36-hole total is the third-best in school history.

Individually, senior Jill Schmitmeyer is in the lead at the tournament by three strokes over senior Kristina Kniesly and freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy. Schmitmeyer has carded an even-par 71 in each of her two rounds and has a 36-hole total of 142. Kniesly meanwhile is 3-over par with a 145 (73, 72) while Mulcahy is 3-over as well after posting a 73 and 72 in her two rounds.

Freshman Erin Mulcahy is tied for 14th with a 152 (75, 77) while sophomore Gabby Woods is tied for 29th with a 158 (83, 75).

As a team, the Oilers lead the field in par 3 scoring (3.10), par 4 scoring (4.30), and par 5 scoring (4.83). They have a total of 24 birdies to lead the field and have been led by Kniesly, who has a total of seven at the tournament.

The third and final round is scheduled for tomorrow as the Oilers will look for their second East Region title. They won the event during the 2018-19 campaign as well.
