Oilers Complete Day 2 at ITA

The University of Findlay women's tennis team completed the first two days at the ITA Regional in Indianapolis, Ind. on Sep. 19-20.

In the singles main draw, Laiying Alvarado led the team by going 2-0. She defeated Hillsdale's Julia Wagner 6-0, 6-2 and claimed a 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 win over Hillsdale's Sarah Hackman. She will face Indianapolis' Sahra Bouchalaa in the semifinals.

Reagan Resor claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hillsdale's Helana Formentin before losing 6-1, 6-1 to Indianapolis' Alina Kisltskya while Luciana Pereyra won 6-1, 6-3 against Hillsdale's Sophia Spinazze before losing 7-5, 6-4 to Indianapolis' Sofia Sharonova.

Emily Hadler, Cristina Nieto Soto, Laura Brito, Samantha Sweet, and Madison Arquette all went 0-1 in the bracket.

In the consolation bracket, Sweet won 6-3, 6-4 over Helana Formentin, Nieto Soto won 5-7, 6-1, 11-9 over Katarina Raszum, Brito won 6-2, 6-1 over Elim Formentin, and Pereyra won 6-1, 6-4 over Taturm Matthews.

Hadler lost 7-6, 2-6, 10-2 against Chiara Wolff, Arquette lost 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 against Ellie Chawner, and Resor lost 6-3, 6-2 against Isabella Sanchez.

In doubles competition, Brito and Nieto Soto lost 8-1 against Indianapolis' Nikol Alexeva and Anna Novikova while Alvarado and Sweet lost 8-6 to Hillsdale's Hannah Cimpeanu and Sarah Hackman. Pereyra and Resor won 8-2 against Hillsdale's Ellie Formentin and Tatum Matthews before losting 9-7 to Indianapolis' Maria Solnyshikna and Ana Valleva while Arquette and Hadler fell 8-4 to Indianapolis' Alina Kislitskaya and Sofia Sharonova.

In the women's doubles Ad-Hoc round, Brito and Nieto Soto won 8-3 against Walsh's Maria Kacalova while Alvarado and Sweet won 8-4 against Illinois-Springfield's Franca Bucco and Nethra Thenappan. Arquette and Hadler also scored a 9-8 victory over Hillsdale's Canela Luna and Sophia Spinazze.  Resor and Pereyra also came out victorious with an 8-4 win over Nicole Beidacki and Isabella Sanchez.
