Alvarado Wins Singles Title at Findlay Invite

The University of Findlay women's tennis team wrapped up the Findlay Invitational on Aug. 29 at the Armstrong Sports Complex.

Individually, senior Laiying Alvarado won the singles championship with a perfect 4-0 record for the Oilers. Alvarado reached the final with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Lawrence Tech's Olga Aliagas Mejina. She met fellow senior Laura Brito in the finals, who advanced after taking down Lawrence Tech's Margot Fontaine by a score of 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals. In the finals, Alvarado prevailed by scoring a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 win over Brito.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Sep. 11-12 when they host the Findlay/YMCA East Fall Invitational.
