Cross Country Competes at All-Ohio Championship in Cedarville

Cedarville, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's cross country teams were in Cedarville, Ohio on Friday, Sep. 17 for the All-Ohio Championship which plays host to NCAA and NAIA schools of all divisions. The Oilers women took fourth in the Division II/NAIA race with 106 points while the men took fifth with 129 points.

Junior Gabrielle Lawrence was the top finisher for the Oilers on the women's side as she took sixth place in the 6,000 meter race with a time of 23:02.4, a minute and two seconds behind the race's winner, Alexa Leppelmeier from Walsh.

The next two across the line for Findlay were freshman Hailey Simmons and Maya Hamsher who took 23rd and 24th with times of 24:20.4 and 24:21.7, respectively. In 32nd and 33rd were sophomore Meghan Donoher and freshman Ava Beam who posted times of 25:03.6 and 25:11.4.

Another set of back-to-back finishers for the Oilers was freshman Sabrina Sciabica (25:31.7) and Reilly Cozette (25:33.6) who took 39th and 40th. Freshman Justine Hunt was the final athlete across the line for Findlay as she completed the course in a time of 28:35.8.

On the men's side, freshman Noah Fisher, a second-team all-G-MAC performer last season, put together the eighth-fastest 8k time in school history as he took fourth place with a mark of 25:26.1. True freshman Kaden Harvey was next to finish as he took 18th with a time of 26:47.6.

Freshman Connor Hill and freshman Zack Britton were next to cross the line, finishing in 29th and 41st with times of 27:09.2 and 27:38.1, respectively.

Freshman Tyler Knestrick crossed the line in 44th with a 27:50.3 while freshman Colin Moats was the final Findlay athlete to finish, crossing the line 28:52.7 to finish in 56th place.

In the men's open race, freshman Aidan Ruiz was the lone competitor for Findlay and finished 164th with a time of 31:40.5 while in the women's open, freshman Paxton Oberhaus and Bailey Chenevey had times of 27:18 and 27:41.7 to finish 68th and 75th, respectively. Senior Matilda Jeruto had a time of 28:01.7 to take 85th in the women's open race.

Findlay's next meet will be on Friday, Sep. 24 as they play host to the Findlay Invitational held at Hillcrest Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio.
