Findlay Hosts Second Annual Cross Country Invite

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's and women's cross country teams played host the the second annual Findlay Invite on Friday, Sep. 24 at Hillcrest Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio. The race featured 71 runners on the women's side while there were 108 competing on the men's side. Findlay's women took second place out of eight teams while the men finished fourth out of seven.

In the women's 6k race, the Oilers were paced by freshman Hailey Simmons who took third place in the event. She averaged a 6:13 mile and crossed the line in 23:09.5. Next across the line was freshman Maya Hamsher who finished in a time of 23:32.3 to take sixth while fellow freshman Reilly Cozette took 11th with a time of 23:56.9.

Sophomore Meghan Donoher ran a 24:03 to finish in 13th while the final team score came from freshman Sabrina Sciabica who took 17th, clocking a time of 24:25.7.

Freshman Justine Hunt (18th / 24:26.1), freshman Hailey Wilson (20th / 24:35.2), freshman Paxton Oberhaus (33rd / 25:47.7), freshman Bailey Chenevey (36th 26:01.7), and senior Matilda Jeruto (44th / 26:39.9) all raced for the Oilers on Friday evening.

The Oilers men scored 85 points to take fourth in their 8k race. Freshman Kaden Harvey put together a solid race as he posted the 14th-best 8k time in school history, crossing the line in a time of 25:46.8. That time was good enough for a sixth place finish. Freshman Zack Britton came in 14th as he completed the race in 26:27.3 and freshman Connor Hill took 21st with a time of 26:42.2. 

Freshman Tyler Knestrick (26:56) and freshman Dylan Hickey (26:57) both crossed the line in sub-27 minutes to finish in 27th and 28th, respectively.

Sophomore Colin Moats crossed the line in 43rd with a time of 27:39.2 while sophomre Aiden Ruiz wrapped up the Oilers' participants with a time of 29:09.5, good for 71st.

Findlay's next meet will take place in Tiffin, Ohio as they head to the Tiffleberg Invite on Friday, Oct. 1.
