2015 Chili Cook-Off Slated for Saturday

The University of Findlay will once again serve as the host for the Cancer Patient Services Chili Cook-Off, which is slated to take place on Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.

The event, which is in its 17th year, has grown to over 1,400 community members who get to decide which of the 25 teams will have the bragging rights of making Hancock County’s best chili.

The Chili Cook-Off is about more than great chili however. It is about helping people in Hancock County maneuver through the many obstacles that come with a cancer diagnosis. All proceeds from the event go directly to Cancer Patient Services, which is used by over 700 families.

Cancer Patient Services provides patient navigation, emotional and financial support along with nutritional supplements, wigs and medical supplies to cancer patients living in Hancock County.

Admission to the event is free for those who purchase a ticket to the Oilers basketball games against Lake Erie on Feb. 14. You can also purchase a ticket to the Chili Cook-Off at the door.

The UF athletic department has provided support for the event since 2002. This season, members from the Oilers men and women’s basketball teams, women’s lacrosse, softball, volleyball, men and women’s soccer and cheer and dance teams will help make the event run smoothly. The UF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will also serve as student judges to help determine the best chili.
