Oilers Receive Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award

The University of Findlay received the 2017-18 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award last Friday at the Embassy Suites hotel during the group's annual meeting.

Presenting the award was Borden Perlman's Tony Trombetta and the yearly honor continued to be voted upon by the athletic trainers as a group.

"I would like to thank the G-MAC, Borden Perlman and specifically Tony Trombetta for sponsoring this award," said Fiona Hanks, head athletic trainer at UF. "We are honored to receive this award, especially as it was voted on by our peers. Athletic training is frequently an overlooked part of athletics programs and something like this helps validate some of our hard work and countless hours with our teams."

Hanks received the honor on behalf of her team, which includes Zane Wildermuth, Rachel Wright, Ashleigh Weddington, Aaron Wass and Allison Kleinhans.

This marks the sixth consecutive year of the award. Trevecca (2014), Cedarville (2013, 2015, 2017) and Davis & Elkins (2016) have been the previous recipients of the support staff honor.

The athletic training staff meeting was held in conjunction with the sports information directors meetings in preparation for the 2018-19 academic year.
