Findlay Selected as Sports Information Staff of the Year

Columbus, Ohio – The University of Findlay was officially named as the 2022-23 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Sports Information Director Staff of the Year at the league's annual preseason meetings on Thursday, July 27.

The Oilers received the fourth annual presentation of the award after Walsh was the winner a year ago.

Findlay's staff is anchored by Assistant AD for External Affairs, Kyle Niermann, and Director of Digital Strategy & Creative Content, Meredith Wipper. Graduate assistants in the athletics communications department for 2022-23 included former women's lacrosse student-athlete Sydney Patten and former baseball player Tyler Archambeau. Former track & field athlete Ashley Van Hoose also added to the team in her role as a student employee, taking over for Archambeau after he accepted a full-time position off campus.

Niermann is preparing to enter his 10th year at Findlay in the athletic department and Wipper will be going into her third.

Each member institution's SID department was responsible for the voting of the award.

"We're incredibly honored to be selected by our peers as the recipients of this year's SID of the Year award", said Niermann. "While we are blessed to receive this recognition, it's important that the hard work of everyone in the conference is highlighted.  The Great Midwest has a cohesive group of athletics communications professionals that we are lucky to call our coworkers and friends. Often working behind the scenes, each of those people is critical to the success of their departments and we could not do what we do without each of them."

Findlay's efforts on the Oilers' social media channels with motion graphics and eye-catching design elements have long been a staple of the department.

The department's assistance in helping video stream conference championships through the Great Midwest Digital Network was also notable.

Niermann was the director of multi-camera video productions for baseball at PRASCO Park and softball at Marathon Diamonds, often enlisting the help of other member institutions in the conference for a collaborative effort.

Findlay also excels in the photography department, internall providing top-notch media days for its' athletes, while providing action pictures to their opponents, going above and beyond their other postgame responsibilities.
