Solid Pitching and Late Offense Lands 2 Wins for Oilers

The University of Findlay baseball team won a pair of games against Gannon University on Sunday, March 3 in Lakeland, Fla.

Preston Zachrich pitched a gem in game one to pick up his first win of the season, allowing just four hits in six innings while striking out eight.

Tommy Roush led the way for Findlay going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run while Blake Schmenk also had two hits from the leadoff spot with a run scored.

Jon Shollenberger and Dylan Cintula also chipped in with one RBI each.

Alex Williams picked up his first save of the season in the 4-0 victory.

In game two, Roush recorded his second and third RBI's of the day in one swing on a two-run home run in the bottom of the first.  The Oilers' bats went cold however and Gannon was able to score one in the third and one in the seventh to tie the game at two.

Then, in the bottom of the seventh, Victor Migliore recorded a walk-off single that scored Shollenberger for the 3-2 win.

Shollenberger led Findlay at the plate going 3-for-3 while Migliore was 2-for-4 with a double and the game-winning RBI.

Derek Draper pitched five strong innings on the mound allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out five.

The Oilers are 3-3 in the young season, currently riding a three-game win streak.

They will be back in action tomorrow when they continue their Florida road trip against Rockhurst.
