Oilers Win In 10th For Sweep Of Hillsdale
The University of Findlay baseball team completed the sweep of Hillsdale College with a 6-5 extra inning win on Sunday, April 21 in Findlay, Ohio.
With the score tied 5-5 in the bottom of the 10th inning, Joe Sickler roped a double down the left field line and into the corner, allowing Jon Shollenberger to score the winning run from second base.
Blake Schmenk led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI's. He also scored twice.
Sickler was 2-for-5 in the game with a double and the game winning RBI.
Alex Williams picked up the win for the Oilers, pitching the last inning and a third in relief.
Findlay got a strong start from Darrell Thobe who gave up three earned runs in six innings while striking out seven.
With the sweep, the Oilers move to 17-18 on the season with a 10-13 mark in GLAIC action. They will host Urbana at home tomorrow.
