Gossard Wins National Pitcher of the Week

NCBWA Release

Findlay, OH - University of Findlay sophomore pitcher Colin Gossard has been named as the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) National Pitcher of the Week just five days after being named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Week.

Gossard receives the award after his season-ending outing on Sunday, May 8 against Ashland in which he pitched eight innings and allowed just one run. He struck out a career-high 12 batters in the game and, until the eighth inning run, did not allow a runner past second base.

This is the first time Gossard has won NCBWA Pitcher of the Week. It is the third time this season that an Oilers' pitcher has collected the award. No other team in the country has won the award more than once this season. Mark Delas and Mason Mayberry each received the honor for the Orange and Black after each throwing a no-hitter.
