Box Score

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay baseball team dropped a non-conference game on Tuesday, April 10 at the hands of the Warriors of Wayne State University. With the loss the Oilers fall to 16-8 overall while the Warriors improve to 15-14.

Both squads struggled to get the offense going as neither team had a base runner until a single by WSU in the top of the third inning.

In the fifth inning the Oilers, who had yet to record a hit, took the lead when Josh Schwerer was hit by a pitch and ultimately scored on a wild pitch giving Findlay a 1-0 lead.

The Warriors finally got to the Oilers' starter Tyler Rendlesham in the sixth as they were able to push a pair of runs across, taking a 2-1 lead. That lead would remain into the top of the ninth when they tacked on one more run to build a two-run cushion.

After a leadoff walk was erased on a double play in the bottom of the ninth, Findlay's Trevor Anderson flared an 0-2 pitch into right field to spoil the Warriors' collective no-hitter. But it was not enough as a fly out to right field ended the contest.

Findlay got everything they needed out of starter Tyler Rendlesham who was making his first collegiate start on the hill. The junior tossed six strong innings, allowing just two runs on five hits while walking three and striking out six. Despite the effort, Rendlesham took the loss and falls to 0-1 on the year.

The Oilers are back in action this Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15, when they travel to take on Hillsdale College for a big G-MAC North matchup. Saturday's double header is set to begin at 1:00 pm while Sunday's game will also see a 1:00 pm first pitch.
