Oilers Win 2 IHSA Shows

The University of Findlay English equestrian team hosted a pair of shows on Nov. 19-20. With a growing region, the Oilers hosted the largest IHSA horse show of program history, with 180 rides on both days.  Oiler riders and horses rose to the challenge, taking home winning rides in 20 of the 40 classes over the course of the two days, 13 second place rides, and 7 third place rides.  On Saturday, the Oilers walked away with high point team honors with a team total of 45 points, and senior Theresa Shattan claimed high point rider honors after winning both her Novice Equitation Over Fences and Novice Equitation on the Flat classes.  Sunday was no different, as the Oilers again took the top spot of the 14 competing teams, with a grand total of 42 team points. Freshman Breanna Hertz walked away with reserve rider honors, after winning both her Novice Equitation Over Fences & Novice Equitation on the Flat classes. The Oilers would like to also congratulate regional qualifiers over the weekend, junior Katie Holt (Novice Equitation on the Flat), junior Leslie Turner (Novice Equitation on the Flat), Melanie McCaffrey (Intermediate Equitation on the Flat), and senior Theresa Shattan (Novice Equitation on the Flat & Over Fences).
