Knopick Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

Senior linebacker Joe Knopick of The University of Findlay football team was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday, September 28.

Knopick led the Oilers to a 14-0 win over Northwood University last Saturday by making 17 tackles.

Knopick also recovered a fumble and had one quarterback hurry during the win, leading a Findlay defense that forced six turnovers in the contest.

On the season, Knopick leads the team and ranks seventh in the GLIAC with 45 tackles. His three fumbles recovered currently leads the GLIAC.

Hillsdale College's Vinnie Panizzi earned offensive player of the week honors while Grand Valley State University's Blake Smolen captured the weekly special teams award.
