Wildcats Bite Oilers In Superior Dome 49-10

The Superior Dome was not a friendly place for The University of Findlay football team as they fell 49-10 to Northern Michigan University on Saturday, September 11 in Marquette, Michigan. The loss gives the Oilers a 0-2 record on the season with a 0-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Wildcats hit the Oilers early and often with big plays to take a 35-0 lead in the second quarter before freshman quarterback Zach Tate connected on his first career touchdown pass to sophomore tight end Josh Kloepfer just before the end of the opening half.

Senior kicker Cameron Stevens would tack on a 38-yard field goal in the third quarter as the Oilers were victimized by five turnovers on the afternoon.

Sophomore running back Monterae Williams finished the game with 23 carries for 78 yards while sophomore running back Demetrius Trapps added 52 yards on the ground, via eight carries.

Tate finished the game by completing 13-of-24 passes for 106 yards. He added one touchdown throw but also tossed four interceptions in the loss.

Defensively, sophomore tackle Richard Sumlin led the team with nine tackles. He also added one tackle for a loss and split a sack with junior defensive end Brandon Cornell.

Freshman cornerback Kalon Willis added six tackles, two for a loss, while senior safety Bryon Rizzi picked off a pass.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday, September 18 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to face Tiffin University at 1:30 p.m.
