Belton To Lead Quarterbacks

Belton To Lead Quarterbacks

Quarterbacks are praised when the team is winning and loathed when the team is losing. They are often looked as the face of the program and relied upon to lead the team. In recent history, the Oilers have struggled to find consistency from the quarterback position. This year, the coaches are hoping that changes as the team will rely on the left arm of junior Clay Belton, who certainly has the physical tools to be one of the better signal callers in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Belton transferred to Findlay from the University of Maryland. He began his collegiate career at Miami University and in 2008, started four games for the RedHawks as a red-shirt freshman.

Red-shirt sophomore and red-shirt freshman Mitchell Faine also return to the position and have both shown the ability to get the job done during camp.

Freshmen Justin Wray, Matt Spragg and Jesse Slone have shown promise in camp as well.

"Our quarterbacks are working hard to learn the system and techniques to be successful in our offense," said offensive coordinator Troy Rothenbuhler. "All of them throw the ball well and are more than capable of leading our team."
