7 Oilers Earn Honors from Ohio College Football
Seven Oilers earned postseason honors from Ohio College Football on Thursday, December 8 as junior running back Monterae Williams was tabbed the Co-Offensive Player of the Year for NCAA Division II football in Ohio.
Williams, sophomore tight end Jaryd Brown, junior center Scott Dearwester, senior defensive back Isaiah Ballard and junior linebacker Brandon Butler were all named first team all-OCF for their performances during the 2011 campaign.
Williams, a first team all-conference pick, finished the season with 1,268 yards rushing, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He also scored 18 touchdowns on the ground and averaged 115.3 yards per contest, which ranks 15th nationally.
The Canton, Ohio native recorded seven 100-yard rushing games on the year and added 14 receptions for 121 yards and a score.
His 114 total points scored on the year is the third best mark in school history and he know ranks fourth all-time at Findlay with 3,312 career rushing yards.
Brown, who was an honorable mention all-GLIAC pick, hauled in 46 passes for 598 yards and six touchdowns.
Dearwester, a second team all-league selection, helped pave the way for the Oilers outstanding rushing attack, which averaged 191.1 yards per game. His efforts also led to the Oilers averaging 392.4 yards per game on offense.
Ballard, a first team all-GLIAC selection and a second team all-region pick by Daktronics, finished the season with 96 total tackles, which included 67 solo stops. He also led the conference as well as the nation in forced fumbles with six.
He also added two interceptions and four fumble recoveries, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
As a return man, Ballard averaged 28.2 yards per kick return, the second best mark in the GLIAC and the 11th best average in the nation.
Butler, an honorable mention all-league pick, led the Oilers with 102 tackles in 2011.
In addition, sophomore left tackle Justin Music and junior defensive tackle Richard Sumlin, who tallied 4.5 sacks, were both named second team all-OCF.
Both players earned honorable mention all-GLIAC honors during the 2011 campaign.
