Reed Named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week

Junior quarterback Verlon Reed was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Oilers 40-19 win over Michigan Technological University on Sept. 28.

Reed was a one-man wrecking crew on offense as he completed 13-of-19 passing attempts for 166 yards and two scores against the Huskies.  He also added 13 carries for 156 yards and two more touchdowns.

The Columbus, Ohio native recorded a 79-yard touchdown run in the win, the longest run an Oilers player has had since Jeremy Smith went for 80-yards against Mercyhurst in 2002.

Reed leads the GLIAC and ranks tenth nationally in completion percentage at 69.0 and ranks third in the conference and 33rd nationally in passing yards per game at 272.0.

He is also in a tie for third place in the GLIAC in touchdown passes with six so far.
