#18 Panthers Win 41-21 over Oilers

The University of Findlay football team lost 41-21 to #18 Ohio Dominican University on Thursday, Oct. 17 at Panther Field in Columbus, Ohio.

The Panthers pulled out to a 31-7 lead at halftime and the Oilers were never able to recover despite adding two scores in the second half.

The Oilers offense churned out 417 yards against a stout Panthers defense, but had two turnovers in the loss.  The Panthers meanwhile recorded 653 offensive yards and achieved 33 first downs in the game.

Sophomore running back Daiquone Ford recorded 113 rushing yards on 29 carries while junior quarterback Verlon Reed rushed for 84 yards on seven carries before an injury ended his game in the first half.

Junior quarterback Devontae Payne had 122 passing yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 68 yards on six carries.

Freshman running back Anthony Linnear added four rushes for 26 yards and a score while senior tight end Jaryd Brown made four catches for 45 yards and a score.

Mark Nichols led the Panthers with 275 rushing yards while Mark Miller completed 28-of-32 passing attempts for 270 yards.

Defensively, junior defensive back Harold Jones-Quartey led the team with 12 tackles.

The Oilers, who are now 4-3 on the year with a 2-3 record in conference play, will be back at home next week to take on Lake Erie College on Oct. 26 at 12 p.m.
