UF Football Players Earn More Preseason Honors
Seven UF football players received preseason All-American accolades in anticipation of the 2014 campaign from USA College Football.
Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry, senior center Damon Howe, senior safety Harold Jones-Quartey and senior defensive end Kevin Brewton all were named first team while junior running back Daiquone Ford captured second team honors. Senior quarterback Verlon Reed and junior tackle Chris Reaper were voted honorable mention as well.
Henry was a first team all-conference player for Findlay after registering 71 catches for 951 yards while Howe earned first team all-league honors last year after anchoring the Oilers offensive line.
Brewton, who earned all-region and all-conference honors last year, registered 13.5 tackles for a loss and 11 sacks while Jones-Quartey made 92 tackles to go along with three interceptions en route to being tabbed first team all-GLIAC.
Ford, who earned All-American honors for the Oilers last season along with all-region and all-conference accolades, rushed for 1,789 yards and 24 touchdowns while Reed ended last year by completing 67.4 percent of his passing attempts for 1,791 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also added 389 rushing yards and caught five passes for 152 yards. He scored two rushing touchdowns and also had two receiving scores on the season.
Reaper meanwhile started all 11 games for Findlay at his left tackle position and helped the Oilers only allow nine sacks on the season.
