Oilers Welcome Walsh to Town on Saturday

The Oilers football team will be at home on Saturday, Oct. 11 against Walsh University. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is scheduled to begin at noon in Donnell Stadium.

Coach Keys Weekly

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be broadcast live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-7 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers hold a 2-0 lead in the all-time series against Walsh, having won both contests against the Cavaliers in each of the past two seasons.

The Oilers claimed a 26-7 win over Walsh in 2012 and earned a 49-28 victory against the Cavaliers last year in Donnell Stadium.

Findlay racked up 497 yards of total offense and were led by Devontae Payne, who completed 24-of-34 passing attempts for 296 yards and four touchdowns.

Anthony Linnear recorded 21 carries for 111 yards and a score while Demetrius Trapps had 11 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Lloyd Henry made eight catches for 94 yards and a touchdown while Jaryd Brown had six receptions for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is currently in his fourth season at the helm of the Oilers football program. During his tenure with the team, Keys has guided the Oilers to a 24-13 overall record. He has also posted a 21-12 record in conference play.

The Oilers

The Oilers dropped a 49-21 decision to 13th-ranked Ferris State last weekend in Big Rapids, Mich.

Verlon Reed completed 18-of-28 passing attempts for 191 yards and a score while Luke Hampton hauled in two passes for 83 yards.

Dylan Blunk had five catches for 45 yards, Lloyd Henry caught five balls for 43 yards and Chauncey Bridges accumulated 58 rushing yards on 12 attempts.

Harold Jones-Quartey led the defense with 17 tackles and a forced fumble while Eric Palmore-Lett made ten stops.

Kevin Brewton pounced on two fumbles while Zach Matracia made eight tackles.

The Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are 1-4 on the season with an identical mark in conference play.  They are coming off of a 24-13 loss at home to Northwood.

Brody Tonn has led the offense with 1,043 passing yards and eight touchdowns. He has also thrown eight interceptions.

Justin Keith has racked up 335 rushing yards while Anthony Schrock has accumulated 285 receiving yards.

Cameron Trudell has led the defense with 30 tackles and a sack.

Reception Record Book

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry is working his way up the record books with 126 career receptions. His total ranks seventh all-time at Findlay.  He is currently chasing Dustin Zielaskiewicz for sixth place as he caught 129 balls for the Oilers from 2007-10.

Seth White (2010-13) is currently the all-time record holder in receptions with 149.

Henry has also accumulated 1,712 career receiving yards, a total that ranks sixth all-time at Findlay.  He is chasing Seth White for fifth place in the record book as White recorded 1,931 yards with Findlay from 2010-13.

Scott McLaughlin (1991-94) is currently the all-time leader in receiving yards at Findlay with 2,403.

Finding the End Zone

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed has accounted for 104 points so far this year, the second best total in the GLIAC and the ninth best mark in the nation.  Reed has thrown for ten touchdowns and also rushed for seven as well.  The signal caller also has a two-point conversion this year too.

Reed accumulated a career-high six total touchdowns in the Oilers 46-38 win over Hillsdale on Sep. 6 to open the season.

Sticky Hands

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry leads the GLIAC with 30 receptions this season. He is also ranked second in the conference in receiving yards with 407 and seventh in the league in receiving touchdowns with three.

Henry caught a season-high nine balls for 129 yards in the Oilers 46-38 win over Hillsdale on Sep. 6 to open the season.

A Tackling Machine

Senior safety Harold Jones-Quartey leads the GLIAC in tackles with 55 this season. His average of 11.0 tackles per game is the 22nd best mark in NCAA Division II football.

Jones-Quartey put up a career-high tying 17 tackles in the Oilers loss to 13th-ranked Ferris State last weekend.

Racking up the Yardage

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed is ranked second in the GLIAC in total offense as he is averaging 303.6 yards per game.  His total is also the ninth best mark in all of NCAA Division II football.

Defending the Pass

Senior defensive back Zack Washington leads the GLIAC and ranks 13th in the nation with nine pass breakups on the year.
